Series: Vulnerability
Through this series, the artist embarks on a visual exploration of the fragility of the oceans, exposing the consequences of human activities on marine ecosystems. Françoise Dagorn captures the impact of plastic pollution, climate change and overfishing on the oceans. Her aim is to give an artistic voice to these vulnerable marine ecosystems. In some of her creations, the artist links the rational knowledge of scientists with the raw emotion felt when confronted with the fragility of our precious ocean world. Through this fusion of art and science, she aims to touch the hearts and minds of everyone, inviting viewers to reflect deeply on our collective responsibility to preserve the oceans.

Global warming
Acrylic on canvas
Tryptich 100 x 300 cm
"Global warming" depicts the effects of climate change on coral ecosystems: coral bleaching and rising sea levels. This triptych has been deliberately stripped of all animal life except for the dying corals, highlighting the possible fate of our coral reefs. The depigmented corals emerge in relief, standing out from the canvas to express their revolt. The dominant luminous white of this triptych warns of coral bleaching. Only the energy of the ocean, through the blue of the sea level and the waves, can break up this white desert as the water rises. It's an artistic way of highlighting the vulnerability of our oceans.
Regards croisés sur les bénitiers
Acrylic on canvas and collage of marine charts
100 x 100 cm
"Regards croisés sur les bénitiers" is a complex canvas in which the undulation of clams becomes a marine dance celebrating the connection between art and science.
To anchor this work in a geographical reality, I have deliberately incorporated a fragment of a nautical map of Tatakoto Island in French Polynesia, the scene of scientific research. Researchers guide us in our understanding, diagnosis and search for solutions. Like bottles in the sea, the scientific articles float in a deep blue, with the aim of being picked up by decision-makers to preserve the clams and their lagoons.
Au delà du blanchiment
Acrylic on canvas
100 x 50 cm
"Au delà du blanchissement" plunges the viewer into a visual meditation on the passage of time. This composition is dominated by bleached coral, illustrating the effects of global warming on certain coral reefs. By playing on the delicate relief of the bleached corals, the artist has chosen to emphasise their fragile beauty. White, a symbol of the decline of certain reefs, reveals their growing vulnerability in the face of global change. At the bottom of the composition, a representation of a giant clam unfolds like a chronological frieze. A silent witness to this evolution, the giant clam's exceptional longevity embodies the wisdom of the ancients. As the guardian of the phases of coral bleaching, the artist uses his silent gaze to amplify the resonance of the evidence he has accumulated over the ages. The blue monochrome of the stoup illuminates the bleached coral, offering a glimmer of hope that life persists and that it may not be too late.
Ephémère durabilité
Acrylic on vancas and collage of marine charts
100 x 100 cm
"Ephemeral Sustainability" exposes the paradox of the mutual dependence between man and the sea. The oceans, crucial to the livelihood of three billion people, are threatened by pollution and the depletion of resources. Through a central fishing net and the absence of marine animals, the work raises questions about the enduring richness of the oceans or their devastation. Torn-up and recomposed nautical maps symbolise the quest for a new harmony between man and the marine world, prompting us to reflect deeply on our responsibility towards the oceans and our survival.
